SGED06 The Contemporary Geography of African Development II (15 credits)

This is a course in development geography and equivalent to 15 ECTS. The course is offered at the undergraduate level as a single-subject course as well as a specialization course for the students of the BSc program in Development Studies.

The course gives a deep presentation of the socio-economic diversity of Africa, putting special focus on the present transformation that the continent is going through. The main emphasis will start from the rural realities and their relation to social, economic, political, and environmental issues. Therefore, the course is divided in the following modules: rural development and rural livelihoods, environmental and climate changes, rural-urban linkages, and contemporary political transformations.
